The ROI has embarked on a new communication program that would highlight the new systems perspectives that Industrial Ecology can offer. A series of illustration in the form of comic strips is being developed for release in the print media all over the world. It is expected that 50 such strips will be made available every year. Elections to the International Society for Industrial Ecology |

Mr. Ramesh Ramaswamy, Director ROI has been elected to the Council of the International Society for Industrial Ecology (www.is4ie.org). The Society’s Council (equivalent to a Board of Directors) is the primary governing body.

Future Environmental Trends Conference |

The ROI participated in the 3rd Future Environmental Trends Conference between the 14th and 16th December 2006. Mr. Ramesh Ramaswamy spoke on "Industrial Ecology and Environmental Priorities" The international conference was co-organized by Institut Veolia Environment, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and the institut du developpement durable.

Gordon Research Conference – Oxford |

The prestigious Gordon Research conference on Industrial Ecology was held Queen’s College in Oxford, UK in August 2006. It was attended by some of the leading persons in the field. Ramesh Ramaswamy of the ROI, on invitation, made a presentation on the applications of Industrial Ecology in Developing Countries.

Sébastien Haye, an Environmental Scientist with a Masters from the University of Lausanne, spent four months at the ROI. He was coordinating the ROI project on utilization of agricultural residues.
