ROI is registered as a Public Charitable Trust in India, with its registered office in Bangalore, India. We use concepts and tools of industrial ecology to recommend and promote strategies for sustainable management of critical resources. Our main activities are research and outreach for industrial ecology in developing countries.

 
 

Vision
To enable societies to optimally utilize resources (land, energy, water, food, industrial materials, knowledge, social capital, tradition etc.) so that environmental costs are minimized and social and economic benefits are maximized.

  
 

Mission
The mission of ROI is to utilize concepts and tools of Industrial Ecology in developing strategies for resource optimization in developing countries. Towards accomplishing this mission, its aims are to:

Investigate and promote equitable access to and distribution of resources in urban and rural regions throughout India.

- 
Evaluate and promote locally available renewable sources of energy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and global warming potential.
 
- 
Characterize social, economic and environmental benefits and costs associated with extraction, production and consumption of natural resources.
 
- 
Introduce concepts and tools based on industrial ecology, to policy makers in governments and businesses of developing countries, for optimal utilization of resources by current and future generations.
